Thankful Thursday
Laurie at Taking A Stand is hosting Thankful Thursday for the month of March. This weeks theme is "What are you wearing?"
There's a lot to put on spiritually. In dressing for the day, let us not neglect to bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. Spend time in the word, and prayer, That's how we are enabled to "put on" these things....
In Ephesians chapter 6 We're told to put on the whole armour of God.
To have our loins girt about with truth. When we spend time in the word we can know that we are covered by the truth. To put on the breastplate of righteousness. We know from the word that we are the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus. To have our feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. When we read, we become prepared to spread the gospel to whoever we come across. Above all taking the shield of faith. Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. To put on the helmet of salvation. According to the word we KNOW we're saved, and to have the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
In Galatians 3:27 We're told to put on Christ. That too we do through being in the word.
In Ephesians 4:24 We're instructed to put on the new man.
and in Colossians 3:14 it says... And above all these things [put on] charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
Let's be sure to take a little time to prepare spiritually everyday. That reading and praying time you take is so vitally important. As important as getting dressed. It's not JUST the Christian thing to do. It's FOR YOU. It's what you need to succeed. Spend a little time in the word everyday, and see what a difference it can make.
