It's time once again for Bible study. The topic this week is redemption. Karen writes that in Christ, we have redemption; the forgiveness of sin.
Personal Reflections
1. Have you ever given in to the pressure of the enemy or of the world? Have you succumbed to fear, bitterness, anger, etc.? Have you handed over any precious things of God in your life to sin? Explain.
Of course, we all have given in to these things. It's hard for me sometimes not to give in to worry and fear. I am sometimes a what-if person. I battle that constantly it seems. I've noticed that if I keep my mind on the word and God's promises, I am more at peace. Isaiah 26:3 says Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
2. Look up the following verses. How do they encourage you?
* Ephesians 1:7-8
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; 8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
Prudence is care, caution, and good judgment, as well as wisdom in looking ahead
* Colossians 1:13-14
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
I am So thankful for the blood Jesus shed on the cross. His grace is unfathomable. It's always sufficient. It's very encouraging to know that no matter what mistakes I've made, God has sent his son to pay the price, and I am covered by the blood. Not only that, he will give me wisdom and good judgment to avoid future mistakes.
Thanks Karen for hosting this study.
I'm so thankful for the wisdom He gives us to make good decisions if we will just seek Him and His will in our lives.
ReplyDeleteFear is something that I've had to battle. And I have to constantly stay on guard against it. Isaiah 26:3 is an awesome verse!
ReplyDeleteAnother one of my favorites is II Timothy 1:7 which says, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (KJV) I have spoken and prayed that Scripture many times. :)
